20 - Something Diaries: Quarter Life Crisis
Since high school, I have had my life mapped out. I knew I wanted to move to New York, to write for a magazine, and maybe someday own a business. I did not imagine a wedding, children, or settling down. Ever. Twenty-five has always been far down the line and all of my goals were limited by that magic number. I always said, “When I’m twenty-five, I know for sure I will have finished school, will be a published author, will have a successful business...” and so on. Yet here I am, six months into twenty-five, still giving myself the same pep talks I did when I was seventeen
I was thinking on this a few weeks ago and immediately a song came to mind. It was John Mayer, singing about this very feeling, the one that dominates the plot of ‘Why Georgia.’
