15 Minutes for Exercise and Your Husband
Do you remember when you first started dating your husband and all of those fun activities you did together? If he loved to fish, you went fishing. If he loved to golf, you played golf. You may have even gone to the gym together for a work out and take a run or walk in the afternoon on a pretty spring day? Have you now experienced the reality of life can affect a marriage with busy schedules, to do lists and children? Have you ever felt that you don’t even have 15 minutes for exercise and your husband? TO DO LISTS
I remember early, in our marriage, saying to my husband, we are not doing anything until this house is cleaned, words coming from the same girl who once spent the day throwing a softball with him. How much fun was I? I was definitely not acting like the girl he fell in love with.
As busy women, we can get so caught up in all of the things we think we “need” to do and neglect taking care of our self and spending time with our husband. Then wonder why we feel crummy about our self and unconnected from the most important man in our life.
15 MINUTE WORK OUT and QT
Ladies, do you want to feel good about yourself physically and mentally and stay connected with your hubby? It is time to throw out those to do’s that are really unnecessary and meaningless. When you do, I am confident you will find time for yourself and your man. Sometimes all you need is 15 minutes for exercise and your husband. Think of a few ideas that may work for you. Here is what works for us.
- My husband, Tim, and I have spent some quality time together hitting the weights, not at the gym, but at home. It only takes a few pieces of equipment and little space to get in a good workout. We spend 15 minutes killing two birds with one stone. Getting fit and doing an activity together.
- A walk or jog around our block can be done in 15 minutes. Those few minutes leave me feeling less stressed mentally and physically and connected to him. I feel at peace and I can balance all of those tasks I need to do.
- So yard work is not my favorite, AT ALL, but wow does my husband light up if I head to the yard and pull a few weeds with him in the afternoons. It may not be what I call a “work out”, but is quality time with him and an activity that we can do together.
YOUR TURN
Have you ever thought your husband was unromantic when he asked you to go the gym, go hit golf balls, take a jog, or………., you fill in the blank. Have you considered that he really just wanted YOU to be a part of his world? He may want to do those things you did when you were first dating.
I love Ecclesiastes 9:9
“Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life.”
God’s plan is for you to enjoy your marriage and be healthy. Don’t get so caught up in those “to do’s” that are meaningless. Sometimes, all you may need to feel healthy and connected is to take 15 minutes for exercise and your husband.
