Dear God, What Do I Do Now?
What do you want me to now, God? This has been my prayer over the past year during a time of transition personally and professionally. Even as a Life Purpose Coach, I have been on pause in certain areas of my life, wondering what is next in God's plans. As I sat one morning pouring my frustration out to the Lord in one such area, He once again reminded me that I do not have just one purpose. I have purpose in many roles in my life.
This leads to reflection. Dear Lord, am I honoring you in the roles you have given me? I must admit that I have been guilty of taking certain titles for granted. Sometimes God is saying, "how about you honor me right where you are as a wife, mother, church member, volunteer and or employee instead of worrying so much about the other?" I recently heard Pricilla Shirer say that our prayer should be, "how can we honor God the most right now?”
Does that mean that we are to forget the dreams and talents God has given us? Of course not. They just may not be ready to be used in their full capacity. We don't give up, but continue to use them a little at time as we build for the next season. We can trust in God's timing while we manage the things he has given us for today, according to His instruction. Maybe you are going through a season of rocking babies with sleepless nights, or evenings filled with extracurricular activities. Maybe this is a season to work on your marriage or provide care for a loved one in need. The Bible is very clear I am to acknowledge Him as a woman, wife, mother, friend, employee, business owner and church body member.
As we draw near to the end of the year, I have crossed over to a new season. I clearly see how God has been using my past few seasons to move into the next. I have learned and am still learning to honor Him in my current roles, despite not always knowing what is next. So, my friend, don't give up on your dreams, but don't forget to honor God in the other titles He has given you. He wants you to acknowledge Him and discover your purpose right where you are in this season.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to Him and he will make your paths straight.
Reflection
1. Take a moment and list all of the different titles and roles you have today.
2. Where might God be nudging you to honor Him more in a particular role?
3. How could you see this being a part of your purpose journey? Where are you in the CW process,(dreams, healing, identity, purpose, health, fashion)/
Goal Setting & Sharing
What are three goals you plan to implement after today's devotion?
Proverbs 3:5-6
