When Google Maps Sends You the Wrong Direction

When Google Maps Sends You the Wrong Direction

Here’s How To Get To The Right Location

Recently, a friend texted me the address for an event I was to attend. Each time I clicked on the address, Google Maps autocorrected a word that lead me to a location on the opposite side of my destination. If I would have followed that route, I would have been on a rabbit trail which would have caused me led to me missing the event.   After 3 or 4 times clicking on the address, I had to take control and manually type in the correct address to get to my desired location.

This autocorrect reminds me of what I sometimes need to do in the course of healing God has for me. Seem weird?  Let me explain. I can be on the route to emotional health that, great God has for me, but sometimes the “autocorrect” of my thoughts is going in the wrong direction.

We can be traveling down the road of healing and out of nowhere the enemy will try to re-route us with thoughts  that can  block us from arriving at a healthy place. Painful thoughts that start out with: I can’t… I should have… if only…it will never… I am afraid… and bam! Detour.

God wants to give us complete healing mentally, physically and emotionally; however, we have to stay on alert to ensure our thoughts are not interfering and driving us off-course.  1 Peter 5:8 tells us that we need to be alert because the enemy is prowling looking for someone to devour.  There have been times during the travels of healing that my own thoughts would interrupt and try to take me in a completely different direction or better yet, keep me driving in circles. If I stay alert, aware of the wrong direction the enemy wants me to take, I can capture the thought and turn it around to be obedient to God's destination.

2 Corinthians 10: says, We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The next time your thoughts interrupt your travels to healing, recognize it, take it captive and control it. Turn it around in obedience to God, and his plan for your final destination.

Reflection

  1. Name a time when a thought entered your mind that blocked you from moving forward in the direction of healing.

  2. How could you have turned that around to be obedient to God's words and promises?

  3. How might these thoughts be blocking your healing so that you can move forward to completing the purpose God has for you?

Goals

What are three things you can do when a thought enters your mind that is not from God but from the enemy to sabotage your healing?

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

( 2 Corinthians 10:5)
