New York Fashion Week: Day 6
Well folks, we are winding down! There’s only 2 days left of New York Fashion Week! I don’t know about you, but this makes me quite sad! However, I’m sure our media team will be happy for the crazy, busy week to be over! In my opinion the designers on Day 6 brought out the big guns, with a ton of show stopping collections. Vera Wang showed that bugs aren’t creepy, but beautiful. Pamella Roland presented a very diverse runway collection, while Rodarte taught us that Sci-fi and Fashion DO go together. Let’s take a look back at the trends seen on the runway for Day 6.
[title subtitle="Color"]The Trends[/title]
The colors remained fairly dark in nature except for the ladies behind the label Rodarte who presented a very pastel collection. Pamella Roland featured dark blues, black, mauves & burgundy. Vera Wang presented a completely black and blue collection with no pop of color unless you count the red hair of one of her models. Naeem Khan featured browns, gold, reds, & tans with a few black and whites mixed in.

A lot of sheer! For the most part, people assume they have to wear heavier fabrics in the winter time, but a sheer garment underneath a statement overcoat will definitely keep you warm from point A to B. Pamella Roland used a lot of shiny fabrics that made me think of satin and lame and displayed some amazing beadwork.

[title subtitle="Print"][/title]
There are many types of checkered prints from gingham to plaid, and even plaid comes in different designs from tartan to madras, and Vera Wang favored all types of plaid in her collection! Plaid is typically associated with menswear along with argyle and she also had a few argyle pieces. Pamella Roland also favored plaid for a few of her looks. Naeem Khan took a walk on the wild side featuring exotic animal prints. Rodarte pleased more than just the fashion crowd with their use of Star Wars images for their final dresses. Star Wars fans everywhere will adore those pieces. Oscar De La Renta featured prints in the brocade/baroque/damask patterns for his collection.

Vera Wang featured loose fitting garments also adding opera gloves and fur vests to her ensembles. Pamella Roland stayed with more classic & feminine silhouette, while Sophie Thealletpresented a collection of mostly shorter, cocktail length dresses.

The dark lip remains a designer favorite, especially for Rodarte and Naeem Khan. Rodarte also featured a burgundy smokey eye on their models. Pamella Roland brought back old Hollywood glam with a side part and cascading waves.
