Expand My Territory
Our God-sized dreams aren’t just about us. They are to help others dreams come true and glorify God.
My roommate and I were in the kitchen catching up from the day and heating up our meal preps we made earlier in the week. She was sharing a story about her job and then she asked me, “do you have any dreams about your future career?” Immediately my answer came out of my mouth clearly like I had thought about it for years. In fact, I don’t remember thinking about it at all. Later that night I thought about dreams and how we describe them at Created Woman. “We believe that God has given each of us a God-sized dream! One that will not only change our lives, but those around us for the better. Our dreams are not just about us, but about our purpose and legacy.” My dreams about my future career are like it says in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, expanding my territory.
In the next three years at my place of employment there will be a building expansion. A building expansion always means a people expansion. I manage volunteers in healthcare and oversee multiple locations. With this expansion there will be more opportunity for volunteer services to support department staff and help with patient flow. I am mentoring, pouring into, training, and praying for the next generation of leaders in healthcare. One of my former volunteers, who is now in medical school, reached out to me. She asked if she could do an interview with me on leadership in healthcare. Of course, I said yes. What a great opportunity to pour into the next generation of leaders in healthcare. I get to write letters of recommendation for volunteers who are applying for medical school, scholarships, and jobs. I’m honored to be used by God to help their dreams of becoming our next generation of doctors and leaders in healthcare come true. Our retired volunteers are faithful, loyal, and definitely teach me a thing or two. I see them serving our community. Their dreams haven’t died, they just change. I am passionate about developing leaders and multiplying teams. This expansion will be part of the dream God has for me to help others dreams come true and glorify Him. How exciting!
The thing about dreams is they aren’t easy. They are hard work. My faith gets challenged and my character shaped. There are people who won’t understand or support your dream. That can be a distraction and crush your dreams. Exactly what the enemy, the devil, loves to do; crush our dreams and bring division. What I’ve realized is that with God, how can we go wrong? I keep pressing toward my dreams: marriage, career, relationships and how I want to leave this earth with nothing left in me. It’s not all about work. There are vacations, weekend getaways, and just celebrating life with its joys and sorrows. I will continue to delight in the Lord like it says in Psalms 37:4. God is the dream giver and HE makes the dreams come true. We have the honor and privilege of walking out the dream steps.
