Get up & Go: Plans. Passion. Purpose.

Plans. Passion. Purpose.

You think you have it all figured out until God throws you a curveball - and it’s probably going to be inside and really low. It’s probably going to seem unattainable, unhittable, and unreachable. You may even start begging God for a different strike zone.

That’s exactly how I felt this past June. I really thought I had it all figured out – my plans, my purpose. For example, I’ve always dreamed of writing a book, so when God orchestrated that in His perfect timing I was beyond humbled and super excited. However, when God told me that I needed to start a non-profit I was speechless.

Speechless because I was scared to death.

Speechless because I had no clue how.

Speechless because that wasn’t my plan.

For three weeks I fought God. For three weeks I told Him no. I told Him there wasn’t any way possible I could do this. I even researched how I could raise money for students in need without starting a non-profit.

The irony is that I write daily devotionals telling women they can do anything through Christ – to just have faith.

But.

But where was my faith when God’s plans became bigger than mine? Where was my passion when God handed me His purpose?

This whole situation made my mind go back to a sermon I heard about a man named Philip. An angel of the Lord came to Philip and told Him to get up and go. And Philip did just that - he got up and he went.

“26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south[a] to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went.” Acts 8:26-27

It was that simple for Philip, but man the struggle is really real when God calls me to do something out of the ordinary. If you continue reading in Acts you will see that Philip ends up witnessing to a pretty important guy on that road.

Dear Created Woman, we’ve got to get up and go. No matter how scary. No matter how out of the ordinary it seems. God has a plan and a purpose just for you, and He is counting on you.

Reflection

  1. Are you currently struggling to understand  your purpose?

  2. Do your plans align with God’s plans for your life?

  3. Where are you at in the Created Woman process? (Consider listing the process as a quick reminder)

Goal Setting & Sharing

What are three goals relating to the purpose and plan that God has placed on your heart that you can implement this week?

“26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south[a] to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went.”

Acts 8:26-27
