Fashion and Faith: An Unlikely Pair

“And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?"

Esther 4:14,NIV

God’s name is never mentioned in the book of Esther. So many biblical figures were guided by explicit directions from God. Not Esther. However, just because you won’t find His name written in the story of Esther, his presence cannot be overlooked. His purpose for Esther’s life is significant beyond her knowledge, but it required tremendous bravery. Esther wasn’t just courageous because she was forced into marrying an angry, violent, alcoholic king. She was courageous because she had to trust that God’s plan for her was just, and beyond her own understanding. Her faith is what gave her the strength to be a woman of God.

Life in the Now

Faith and fashion are an unlikely pair. God’s presence in the fashion industry seems bleak at best. But as we see in the book of Esther, just because God’s name isn’t explicit doesn’t mean He isn’t there. Just as faith gives you confidence in the truths presented in the Bible, clothes give you confidence in the truth that you were created for a purpose. Fashion and Faith are both powerful tools of reassurance, and with these tools we can live up to our full potential not only as women, but also as women of God. When you think about it, fashion and faith compliment each other quite nicely.

Think About It

Are there areas of your life where you exclude God?

How does God silently act in your life?

Talk About It

God, you belong in every aspect of my life. Help me to include you, even in the areas where it seems you don’t have a place. Strengthen my faith so I may be guided by you. Remind me that your promises are true.

More of the Truth
