Just the Two of Us
Do you need a getaway? A time to be loved and pampered? Do you long for someone to say, "You're special?" Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him." Mark 9:7
Knowledge to Build On
Mark 9 gives the account of Jesus taking Peter, James and John alone with him up on a mountaintop. In this place Jesus is transformed before their eyes. They not only see His glory, but they hear from God who Jesus is. Then are instructed to listen to Him.
Life in the Now
Recently my husband took me on a weekend getaway. He planed the entire trip. It was a treat to have the freedom to set aside my other roles in life. I was not; mother, sister, daughter, stylist, kid’s “taxi driver”, business owner or any of my many roles. I was able to revel in one role alone, Bride! The purposeful focusing of my attention on that one relationship that makes me bride was life giving, not just to my marriage but to all the other relationships in my life. I came home refreshed and more in love with my husband than ever.
Our time away with the Lord is much the same. When we step away from all other roles and stand in His presence simply as His child there is freedom. Our focused attention on who He is and who we are in Him is priceless. That relationship benefits every relationship in our life and brings strength to our souls.
Think about it
What would it look like for you to get away with the Lord?
Prayer
God,
We set our affection on you. Show us each of us ways we can get away with you focusing on our relationship with you. With you first we do all things better. Give us each understanding of how we can do this and be encouraged in You.
In Jesus' Name
