My Grandma knew

Some people may not know their God-given purpose. Some are aware of their purpose in life. My grandmother, Maria Del Carmen Galvan (Grandma Galvan), who recently passed away, knew and lived out her God-given purpose so well that I and many others knew what it was to share and care. She shared the love of God with everyone she met, cared for her family deeply through actions and prayers, and shared delicious meals with whomever needed one. It was evident that she lived out her purpose and made an impact on others, by the stories shared about ways she loved Jesus, her family, and cooked for others.

Another woman who lived out her God-given purpose was Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. Selected by God himself to birth the living son of God - she fulfilled her purpose at a young age and continued to support and love her God-given son, throughout His years. Her purpose left a lasting impact on all generations after her because of the difference that Jesus makes in everyone’s life.

I pray that each of us woman will know our God-given purpose, as my Grandma Galvan and Jesus’ mother Mary did and that we live our lives with intention in that purpose. No worries if your purpose is not known yet. Here are some ways to seek your purpose.

Pray and fast, seek God whole heartedly. Give Him the truth of how you are feeling and what you’d like to know. He will answer your prayers in His time. The most reliable source of answers from God are within His word.

Act do things you are passionate about. If you enjoy cooking, cook for others, if you love writing, write and share with others. If you enjoy singing, record and share with others. If you love serving a specific demographic, serve them and love them unconditionally. The point is to execute and do the things that you love. In time, God will reveal to you what your purpose is through what you are doing.

Surround yourself with a positive, uplifting, God-loving community that will support and cheer you on as you embark on your purpose journey. When a group of women that come together who love Jesus, love others, and walk in their purpose, great impact for the kingdom can result. I thank God that I asked for and found a local group like this - Created Woman has been the supportive community that answered many prayers. I invite you to join as well. Remember the example of women, like my Grandma Galvan and Mary, who offer support through their inspiration.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

Please reveal to this sweet woman the purpose you created her for. Give her confirmation this week so she may start or continue walking in your purpose for her. Give her an abundance of favor, provision, and the God-appointed relationships to fulfill the purpose. Be with her on this journey and surround her with your love, support, wisdom, and discernment. Thank you, Jesus for creating this sweet woman with a specific anointed purpose that will bring you honor and glory.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Personal reflection:

1.       What does purpose mean to you?

2.       How can you find your God-given purpose today?

3.       What action steps can you take to walk in your God-given purpose?
