The Best Whole Bread
The bread aisle! It can be exhausting. We ponder wondering, "what is the best whole bread that satisfies, tastes good and provides the best nutrients?" I have to admit, there have been times I have given up and chosen what seemed to be sweeter and more delicious. In the long run, it only brought temporary pleasure with feelings of guilt and regret. Have you been there?
Hold on because I have a bread that will leave you completely fulfilled and satisfied. One that brings healing, wholeness, satisfaction and lasting joy without regret. This good news is shared in the book of John.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
John 6:35. (NIV)
As I read these words, I think about the many times I have gone looking for things to bring fulfillment and fill a void. In the long run, I discovered a pleasure that did not endure and left me without peace, contentment, or real joy. Jesus even spoke of this right before He declared He was the bread of life.
"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
John 6:27 (NIV)
Oh, how we can spin our wheels looking for what will taste good and provide a feeling of wholeness. It can lead to a continual state of running up and down the same aisle searching, yet unable to move on. It is when we discover the "One" who brings healing, real joy and contentment, that we can move forward to God's purpose by walking in true freedom.
Where are you today? Are you still searching, longing for that "thing" to be complete and whole? I encourage you to open up God's Word. Study it just as you would the labels on the bread aisle. It is there you will discover healing and satisfaction with a joy that endures forever, in a place where you will never go hungry or thirsty again. His Word provides the best whole bread.
