The Truth About People Who are Always Late
The late people. God bless us. If you are like me, you are especially galled by the little jokes and side comments about lateness as you scoot breathlessly in to meetings and appointments still wearing your heavy coat with your car keys still in hand.
I like to think I am late because I am busy, intelligent, get more things done than the average gal, an epic multi-tasker, or that I can jump into any situation thrown at me and adapt. Pretty sure no one else is seeing it that way. Based on appearances, I am a harried, addled-looking mess that just noticed I left my coffee in the car.
Sometimes, I am doing my best to keep up with a schedule and life that seem to drive me, not the other way around. It can be easy to assume the life I have been called to by God is passing me by, and I am missing something vital while caught up in the little details.
God says I am created with a purpose, for such a time as this. If the creator of the universe has picked this time for me, I am most assuredly where (and when) I am supposed to be.
Take the “Christmas” star for example. This guiding star had to shine for at least 2 years to guide the wise men (Matt. 2:16). Many other cultures and kingdoms have made reference to this celestial event; the Romans were so impressed by it, they re-named their Emperor the Pater Patriae because they assumed it was about him! It takes a little over four years for the light from the closest star to reach earth. Now, I’m no astro-physicist, but God planned for this spectacular light show to herald the birth of Christ from before the foundations of the earth were laid. It shone on the place of Christ’s birth at exactly the right time, traveling at a speed of 186,000 miles per second, imperceptible to the human eye until it was in the vicinity of earth, it’s light arriving hundreds of light years from its inception. That is a lot of hard maths, people. The kind of math only God can do.
You know who else is right on time to fulfil their purpose? You, my friend. God does not make mistakes, or misplace His hope. His design is for you to be right here, right now.
Baby, you are right on time.
