The Best Shoes for Work

For Fashion and Comfort

Recently, I have had to make a few adjustments in choosing my shoes for work each day.  Can I tell you? It has been a challenge. I have to dress professionally, but to stay healthy and comfortable, heels are no longer an option for me, and the wrong flats are not comfortable on my back. My mornings can be exhausting.  Here is what my morning looks like in my closet.

First question of the day. Am I in virtual meetings all day?   If so, I need professional jacket and guess what?  Tennis shoes. Why not?  I have learned to make tennis shoes pretty cute and what does it matter?  No one sees my feet.  Second question.  Will I be walking around in face-to-face meetings?  Well then, it's time for my Dr. Scholl's or Sketchers.   Believe it or not, I have found some cute styles that actually work.

Girls, it has been a struggle to center everything around what to wear on my feet as I map out my day every morning. My shoes have directed my every path, but with this aggravating fashion challenge, I am reminded of God's word in Psalm 119:105,  "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

As I reflect on this verse, I remember that God does not always reveal to us the final outcome.   He wants us to stay focused on Him one step at a time. Even as I write this today, there are questions I have for the future.  I want to know the final outcome. I would love for God to show me the final picture and how the whole outfit will come together, but I hear his voice saying, "I am going to give you a light just for the next step."

So for me, just as I have to start my day with my shoes in mind to determine the whole outfit, I have to start by seeking Him for what is right in front of me. I can’t worry about the final journey until I know the steps for my feet. Then the outfit, and the final outcome, will come together one piece at a time for His glory and purpose.

Reflection

  1. How do you start your day with God?

  2. How have you been so focused on the final outcome that you may have missed the steps needed right in front of your feet?

  3. What could you add or eliminate to start your day focusing on the steps Jesus has for you for that moment?

Goals

Write three things you can do to seek more of Jesus each day.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”

 (Psalms 119:105)
