Freedom: The pursuit of dreams

This past weekend my family celebrated July 4th as most families did watching fireworks, eating hamburgers and strawberry colored snow cones. It was our first 4th as a family of four so we took in a neighborhood celebration at a local park that was filled with bouncy houses, live music, face painting and every kind of food you could think of from corn on the cob to funnel cakes. It was a great day that ended watching our 7-month old looking up into the sky gazing upon the spectacle of lights with wonder; without a tear!

But the holiday weekend kicked off differently than most. Friday night I had the opportunity to be a part of the very first AustinRocks.co. The all white party hosted by my friend, Cheryl Luke, had been a dream churning in her heart for the past three years and Friday night, we all got to celebrate with her as she launched her dream.

After years of believing and the pat few months planning every detail with a team of volunteers, doors swung open for guests to walk the red carpet and take pictures at the step and repeat where everyone was treated as if they were a celebrity. But the most impressive moment of all was when the three charities the celebration benefited were exposed to a whole new audience and awareness to how each person could make a difference.

You see Cheryl’s dream was not just about her, but also about her purpose and legacy.

Allies Against Slavery is a local group in Austin of modern day abolitionists who are fighting a global issue. As a founder member, Cheryl invited everyone to sign a petition the group needed to make sure we had enough laws in place to help stop human trafficking. Guests stood in line to sign.

Sole Hope provides shoes, made from jeans (yes, jeans), for children living in Uganda, who are at risk of contracting diseases that enter through their bare feet. Guests brought jeans and sole hope drew and cut patterns out of the jeans donated all night the tiny feet.

Finally, Created Woman was honored to be the third charity that would benefit from another pursing their dreams. With a goal of 100 dreamers to give $100, guest donated so that the first every Created Woman study guide could go from local to global.

You see Cheryl is just one dreamer who understands her dream is not just about her. With her being faithful to the whisper God has put in her heart, she’s changing the lives of people in her community, family and business.

And so can you!

This weekend, not only am I thankful that CW was able to be a apart of a movement like AustinRocks.co, but I reminded that we get to live in country that has afforded us the freedom to do many things like freedom of religion and freedom of speech. But this weekend, I’m most thankful we live in country where we have the right to pursue our dreams; our God-given dreams so that we, too, can live on purpose and leave a legacy.

Proud of you Cheryl for pursing your dream!

I heard it once said that the saddest thing in life is not knowing your purpose, God’s purpose. In essence, who you are created to be. Without that, what is the meaning of life?

As a practical and educational tool, the CW Family is creating the first ever Created Woman workbook that will offer teaching lessons based on biblical principles, personal stories, reflective questions and interactive activities in each chapter that can be done in group studies, created woman workshops called Design Labs or individually.

To find out how you can be a part of She Designed Her Dream & Launched A Legacy Campaign Click HERE to read a letter from the founder. Together, we will be able to reach women around the world with the new Created Woman workbook transforming dreamers into legacy builders.
