A Week in High Fashion

New York Fashion Week concluded yesterday and I’m speechless. I live for every fashion week and have high expectations every time. This week did not disappoint. From gingham all over the Michael Kors runway to Polka Dots running the Marc Jacobs show, I’m expecting Spring/Summer 2015 to be a beautiful season for clothes. All the designers had incredible collections but a few stood out to me.

Tommy Hilfiger

I’ve never been a fan of Tommy Hilfiger until his show on Monday. I’m not sure if it’s my love for 1970’s rock n roll or just the unexpectedness of this collection but I fell in love. He left his typical “All-American” look went vintage with a Woodstock feel. The colors were red, white, blue and black and screamed hippie chic. Stars and stripes were the pattern he went for and he did it perfectly in furs, leathers and shiny fabrics. I can honestly say I can’t wait for his Spring/Summer collection to hit stores.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph took me on a safari expedition with this collection. Jewel tones and khaki were executed perfectly with sparkling jewels and silk fabrics. At times I feel like runway looks are never truly wearable, however every piece from this collection is. What really got me though was the final dress- a beautiful khaki ball gown with large pocket and a tie waist. If only I had somewhere to go where I needed something that extravagant.

Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka has always been one of my absolute favorites. I remember the day I got my first pair of black embellished Badgley Mischka pumps like it was yesterday. Their collections have always been soft and elegant and this season followed suit. For their 25th anniversary collection, sheer fabrics with floral embroidery were all over the runway in shades of blue, purple and beige giving a French countryside feel. My favorite thing about this collection was that no two pieces were the same.

Carolina Herrera

Florals and not regular florals; Carolina Herrera used eye popping flowers and and the colors in which they bloom. Her collections are typically classic but she changed it up with this one and gave it a modern and contemporary look. In my opinion, the details seemed to be slightly Asian with the cuts and folding. The women who already love her will adore this collection and the women who don’t should.
