Hide and Go Seek: How to find Your God-Sized Dream
When it comes to dreaming, I believe women continually struggle with the “Oh, not me” syndrome. We read throughout the pages of scripture to find women laughing at the plans of God, like Sarai in Genesis 18:12. Feeling unheard and unseen, like Hagar in Genesis 16. Even Mary was terrified of the Seed the Lord planted in her (Luke 1:29).
Since the beginning of time, women have been failing to believe in their God-sized dream. Even today, after reading stories of the promises of God coming to pass and dreams being fulfilled, we still seem to doubt our own dreams. It is far too often that women discredit themselves, forfeit their vision and settle for a daydream, only to wake up to a half-fulfilled life, thinking “not me.”
One reason I believe women give up is because dreams are sometimes hidden in our heart. One of the hardest parts of dreaming is finding what’s hidden. Some of our biggest dreams are hidden under the dark seasons in life. Let me explain by example.
I would bet money that every one of you has played a game of hide-and-go-seek. Before that, you were probably a pro at peek-a-boo. Hiding, finding and revealing, as a child’s game is thrilling and exciting. Hiding, finding and revealing as an adult finding an arcane purpose and the will to dream, is frustrating and daunting.
But there is hope in the finding. Sometimes the finding is isolating, but this season is uniquely designed to cultivate a close relationship with the one who gave you purpose. It’s in the waiting, it's in the seeking, it's in the dark seasons where we discover who God is and who He says we are. Yes, God brings us out of the hidden, out of the darkness, into the light, into our purpose. This is where we find our dreams.
If you are searching, if you are waiting, hoping, or even hurting… this message is for you, sister! We don’t get the diamond without cutting, we don’t get the gold without the refiner’s fire. And we do not discover what’s hidden if we do not seek to find!
There are dreams and vision deep inside the inner being of who you are. God has designed the “finding stage” to develop faith, intimacy and relationship with Him.
‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’ – Jer 29:13
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ - Jer 33:3
